The NMAF Board of Directors has approved the following key dates for the awards program of the 36th annual National Magazine Awards:
- December 1: Call for submissions
- December 14: Co-financing deadline
- January 11: Early-Bird submissions deadline
- January 16: Final submissions deadline
- March 1: Outstanding Achievement deadline
- May 1: Nominations announcement
- June 7: 36th annual NMA gala
