Canada's History, Prairie Fire lead nominees for Maggie Awards

The 2014 Manitoba Magazine Awards (“Maggies”) nominations have been announced, and the 5 publications shortlisted for Manitoba Magazine of the Year include National Magazine Award winners Canada’s History and Prairie Fire as well as Conservator, Covet and Kayak.
(Border Crossings, recently crowned Manitoba Magazine of the Year at the Western Magazine Awards, did not make the list.)
Prairie Fire grabbed 7 of the 10 overall nominations in the 3 Arts & Literary categories–Creative Non-Fiction, Poetry and Short Fiction, while Canada’s History was also nominated for Best Cover Illustration, Best Mobile, Digital or Interactive Initiative (for its “Destinations” microsite), Best Editorial Feature, Best Regular Column or Department and Best Single Issue.
Other notable nominees include Anna Magazine, Ayoko, Cellar Door, CV2, Geez, Rhubarb and The Cottager.
The winners, including People’s Choice Awards, will be announced Thursday, October 2 at the Delta Hotel, Winnipeg.
