The award recognizes excellence in print journalism endeavors to promote understanding of scientific achievement to the Canadian public.

Description: Entries for the Yves Fortier Award may deal with a broad spectrum of earth science topics, ranging from earth to ocean and atmosphere. They are judged generally on the basis of originality , clarity of interpretation, scientific accuracy and value in promoting a broader understanding of earth sciences by the public. The award is presented by the Canadian Science Writers Association.
