On June 7, 2012 members of the Canadian magazine industry will gather at The Carlu in Toronto to celebrate excellence in magazine publishing at the 35th anniversary National Magazine Awards gala.
Today the National Magazine Awards Foundation (NMAF) has issued a Press Release detailing the schedule of the gala event on June 7. There are two main highlights:
1) The National Magazine Awards gala is being held on the same date, at the same venue, as the 58th annual Kenneth R. Wilson (KRW) Awards. The KRW awards presentation will take place from 4:30pm-6pm in the Round Room of The Carlu. A joint industry reception, for ticket holders of both galas, will take place from 6pm-7:30pm in the Grand Foyer. At 7:30pm the NMA presentation and dinner service will commence in the Concert Hall, with the Round Room also open to all guests throughout. Dessert, bar service and revelry will continue afterwards till late.
2) The National Magazine Awards gala is being held on a Thursday evening this year, a change from the recent tradition of hosting the event on a Friday evening.
“It’s an important milestone in Canadian publishing to bring together the National Magazine Awards and the KRWs to celebrate outstanding achievement,” said Barbara Gould, Managing Director of both the National Magazine Awards Foundation and the KRW Awards. “The awards on June 7 will honour those who have had a profound impact on the quality of magazine publishing in Canada, and a rare opportunity to have this collective talent together for one evening.”
