The National Media Awards Foundation is delighted to announce that Sandra E. Martin will once again host the National Magazine Awards’ virtual event!
Not to make light of lockdown—although, after 14 months, what else can creators do?—but if there’s been a bright side to “all of this,” it’s that much of the world has rediscovered reading during COVID. And we, as magazine writers, editors, designers, and publishers, have found new ways to reach our audiences; to expand our audiences as well. The National Magazine Awards may look and sound different than it did even a couple years ago, but there is still so much to celebrate—because magazines are vital; they are innovative; they enrich readers lives, amid “all of this.”

Her rich and varied 20+ years as a journalist and audience specialist comprise her tenure as Editor-in-Chief of Canadian Living; helming the highly successful launch of Walmart Live Better/Vivre mieux Walmart; and serving in senior editorial capacities at Today’s Parent. Her byline has appeared in the Globe and Mail, Cottage Life, and the National Post, among others. She recently joined the board of SABEW Canada, and looks forward to working with that organization to champion excellence in business journalism.

This year’s National Magazine Awards event will be live-streamed on June 11 at 7PM ET via Facebook. To help bring this year’s celebration to the industry across the country, the Foundation is requesting a pay-what-you-can donation (we suggest $25) in lieu of ticket costs. As a small charitable organization, these donations are vital to the Foundation’s ability to honour this year’s winners and nominees through this virtual gala.
