New this year - Awards for Online magazine content

For the 2009 National Magazine Awards the NMAF will be recognizing excellence in Canadian web-based magazine content and online-only magazines. In addition to our awards for Visual, Written and Integrated print-magazine content, this year we are inaugurating awards specifically for achievements in digital magazine media, with seven new Online Categories. Read all about it.

Also new this year

The NMAF has created a new category, Best New Visual Creator, to reward an illustrator or photographer whose early work in magazines shows the highest degree of craft and promise. The new award for Best New Magazine Writer is a fusion of an earlier award for Best New Writer and the Best Student Writer award.

The integrated category Editorial Packaging for a Single Service Article has been renamed Single Service Article Package. The award definition and requirements remain the same.

Award-Winning Creators Profiles

Attention Winners: The NMAF announced a new initiative to help promote and celebrate the achievements of award winners: The Award-winning Creators Profile – a new opportunity for winners to promote their work by creating profiles of themselves on the NMA online winners archive. All past award winners and finalists are invited to create an online profile which may include a bio, contact information, photograph and links to your work and professional websites. Anywhere your name appears in our Awards Archive it will link directly to your unique profile.
