The 40th Anniversary National Magazine Awards
The National Magazine Awards Foundation is a bilingual, not-for-profit institution whose mission is to foster, recognize and promote editorial excellence in Canadian publications.   The annual program of awards are presented in June and are followed by a year-long national publicity effort and several professional development opportunities.

2017 Call for Entries in Now Closed

As submissions to the 40th Anniversary National Magazine Awards have officially closed, we want to send a big “Thank You” to all who entered. Whether submitting on behalf of your publication or as a freelance creator, we wish you the best of luck in this year’s competition.


The NMAF is still accepting applications for its three most prestigious awards: The Foundation Award for Outstanding Achievement and the Foundation Award for International Impact. 


The deadline for nominations for the Foundation Award for Outstanding Achievement and the Foundation Award for International Impact is March 1 2017. The nomination consists of a letter from the nominator indicating the candidate’s name, title and career achievements, with supporting letters from at least two (2) other individuals. Judging Process

As we swiftly move into our judging process, gearing up for the nominee announcement on April 20, 2017, we again want to thank you for your continued support of the NMAF, and we look forward to another exciting year of Celebrating Canadian Creators.


The NMAF has announced changes to its judging process, including more robust criteria and scoring procedures, and an amalgamation of the two-tiered judging system for written categories. Read about the new NMAF Judging Process.
